This week on Tech Pick of the Week at Rescue Response Gear, Luke Bryan breaks down the RAD technique. The Rapid Ascent/Descent technique facilitates quick and easy progression, positioning and change from a rope access ascent to descent. All of which is accomplished while maintaining an acceptable number of points of contact as recognized by SPRAT. Using a handled ascender, small pulley, a camming descent device, and a handful of carabiners, a technician can facilitate mechanically aided ascent to a quick changeover, which is free of the chest ascender to descent device procession.
