Rope Installation and Throwline Techniques

Various Arbor techniques for installing the rope into trees from the ground. Rope installation is the cornerstone of tree climbing. Literally, without it… nothing else happens. Single Hand Toss, Cradle Throw or the Big Shot. All are important. Seasoned tree climbers seem to lean towards the single hand toss over time. Very accurate. The two handed cradle is secure and often allows a higher toss. The Big Shot… well, this is the canon of the traditional climbers (however, even then… bow and arrows are counted on often for the “big guys”. It is crucial, the line is not knotted up. Paying the line out is critical to keeping the system clear of obstacles. Once the bag is in place, paying special care to snags and limbs that will want to hold the bag hostage.
