What is your philosophy for a “rescuer based; versus a team based” system or technique?

What is your philosophy for a “rescuer based; versus a team based” system or technique?

Whenever possible, it is my personal opinion that more brains, eyes, and backs is a better approach, than one person wearing a cape.  Having said that, every rescue situation is different, every environment is different, and access to resources is different.  Certainly a spontaneous rescue effort in a recreational alpine climbing environment will be handled differently than a car over the bank in a metropolitan area.  Let’s use a “pickoff” evolution as an example.  Can it be done as a solo rescuer?  Absolutely; it can be done that way, but it places a tremendous responsibility on that contact rescuer.  Alternately; a team based approach spreads out not only that responsibility, but also the effort needed to accomplish the objectives.
