When we talk about “tall things”, it could be an industrial structure like a wind turbine, water tower, or communications tower. Or, it could be a tree. In very general terms, the options are; traditional lead climbing, alternating lanyard climbing, or use of installed fall protection systems. Traditional lead climbing can consume mass quantities of equipment, and take a long time. Alternating lanyard climbing allows for generally a faster and more mobile approach. The use of installed fall protection systems is arguably the fastest and safest, but can require specialty equipment that is compatible with that specific fall protection system.
