The ante has been raised in our industry.  The need for running teams and systems in a more streamlined manner has become less a wish and more a practical goal.  Some have met this challenge and surpassed it, while others are still pursuing the vision.  There are real-life obstacles we face (every day) that stand in the face of modification much less innovation.

Rigging Lab Academy has been answering this call for tens of thousands of members over the last couple of years.  One of the improvements we knew we need to make was to update our Equipment.  While “Equipment” has worked exceedingly well, it didn’t address today’s rigging challenges with today’s new equipment ~ We have addressed this with our newest course Gear In Use.

Gear-In-Use

While this course centers on equipment, we can’t really show “what the gear is”, without showing ” why we use the gear” and “how we use the gear”. This course will be an ever-expanding portrayal of not just equipment, but the equipment in use. This includes various examples of equipment being properly used per the manufacturer’s specifications in the environment they were intended for.

In this course you will learn:
  • The Why

Many of us have been trained in the “rules,” and these rules define the way we work. Unfortunately, while these rules guide us well when starting out they eventually come up short when dealing with more complex situations. If we instead focus on understanding the underpinning of principles first we can see how these rules are derived and then applied to the equipment and “gear in use”.

  • The What

Gear (rope rigging and rescue equipment) must be designed to meeting a precise purpose. Product development must include simple, ergonomic, and reliable solutions and encourage inactivation within the intended purpose of the equipment use and reflect the evolution of activities in which it is used.

  • The How

Covering the basic physics that apply to rope rigging and rescue systems, this course will help you develop a deeper understanding and a sound approach to gear selection and problem-solving. Considering force and tension as vectors and finding creative ways to apply these in the field makes it so much easier to define resultants and calculate mechanical advantage in complex systems.
